Employees Taking Company Property: Apple Employee Arrested for Stealing Company Secrets
US authorities have charged a former Apple employee with trade secret theft relating to Apple's self-driving vehicle blueprint. The employee allegedly planned to work for a Chinese self-driving car startup and booked a last minute flight out of the country after downloading the blueprint.
Of course, the losses from such a theft can be huge. We have conducted several cases for clients who have had trade secrets and company property stolen by employees who try to set up in competition with their employer or who want to ingratiate themselves with a new competing company employer.
We provide clients with employee contracts that will protect them from this activity by granting an indemnity from the emplyee in favour of the client for all losses whatsoever and payment of legal fees that result from their theft.
